The Support You Need To Overcome Addiction

Why is it so difficult to conquer drug or alcohol addiction?

One reason is because the causes are so complex. It is not enough to simply treat the body’s physical dependence on a substance. To break the cycle, the emotional and social issues that drive addictive behavior must also be addressed.

That’s why Highline Addiction Recovery Center has been so successful over the years. As one of the region’s only hospital-based programs, we provide a comprehensive system of care to help patients and their families through every stage of recovery. Our intensive program addresses all the diverse dimensions of addiction–medical, physical, emotional, social and spiritual–in a supportive, personalized setting.

A Comprehensive Hospital-Based Program Built Around the Needs of the Individual
At Highline Addiction Recovery Center, patients benefit from an innovative program that combines the best of inpatient and outpatient care. Our seamless continuum of care provides medically based treatment throughout every stage of recovery–from emergency detoxification to outpatient counseling.

Because we offer such a broad range of options, the program can be customized for each patient to meet his or her individual needs. In addition, our intimate care setting allows us to provide more personal attention and to get to know patients and their families on a first name basis. In fact, patients often see the same counselors throughout the entire program. Key program components include:

Medical Detoxification. The complications of withdrawal are best managed in a hospital, under the direction of a physician. In Highline’s inpatient detoxification unit, patients are closely monitored during the withdrawal process by our medical director and a team nurses and counselors. We admit patients 24 hours a day on an emergent basis.

Inpatient Stabilization This one to two week program is designed to optimize care with minimal disruption to patients’ lives. The program includes medical treatment to stabilize the patient’s condition, lectures, individual and group therapy sessions, and 12-step meetings. The focus is on building a sober support network, anticipating potential relapse scenarios and creating strategies for staying clean and sober.

Intensive Outpatient Program offers patients a rigorous chemical dependency program with the flexibility to continue with their current work or school obligations.  IOP includes lectures, individual and group counseling, along with 12-step meetings. We teach patients stress management, relapse prevention, recovery and life skills. The outpatient program meets treatment requirements for DUI and other legal offenders. Day and evening groups are available.

An Expert Team
At Highline, you benefit from the expertise of an entire team specialized in the unique problems of chemical dependency. Our medical director, Gregory Rudolf, MD, is board certified in Addiction Medicine and Family Practice–one of only a handful of medical *addictionologists in the state. Your team also includes certified chemical dependency professionals (CDP), physicians, psychiatrists and nurses.

Our Treatment Philosophy
Highline Addiction Recovery Center has a long successful history helping people overcome drug and alcohol problems. We were originally known as the CareUnit when we started in 1974. We view chemical dependency as a chronic disease resulting from repeated and progressively more devastating brain and systemic exposure to certain chemical compounds. Addiction brings with it well documented adverse consequences in the patient’s physical, cognitive, social, emotional, occupational and spiritual well-being. We recognize that patient readiness for behavior change is highly variable. Using therapeutic skill we assess what stage of change the patient is currently in and intervene in ways consistent with progressing the patient towards sustained recovery. To help motivate this change, we provide the following:

  • Therapeutic milieu
  • Group and individual counseling
  • Psychoeducational and other cognitive behavioral interventions
  • Motivational enhancement therapy
  • 12-Step participation
  • Family education and support
  • Strong relapse prevention focus
  • Peer support through Magic Works Alumni

We accept inquiries on a 24-hour per day, 7 day a week basis. Anyone may call for help. We place no restrictions on referrals. The patient will then be assessed to determine the appropriate care needed
