Aquatic Exercise Program Aquatic therapy provides a number of benefits to those suffering from arthritis, stroke, fibromyalgia or recovering from orthopedic surgery. The warm water improves circulation, flexibility and promotes relaxation. It’s one of the best ways to decrease the muscle rigidity and pain that often accompanies Parkinson’s. The water buoyancy allows patients to practice gentle stretching and strengthening exercises without stressing joints. With increased strength, flexibility and balance, patients can reduce their risk of injury and falls. Highline’s warm water therapy pool is located on the first floor of the Specialty Campus in Tukwila. For years the pool has been home to classes for arthritis and Parkinson’s patients, as well as for inpatient therapy sessions. The pool is designed for eight to ten people, with a balance bar surrounding the pool to enhance walking safety, stairs entering the pool, and a lift for those wheelchair bound or unable to use stairs. The water is kept at a precise 94° to maximize comfort and function. It is one of the few warm water therapy pools in the greater Seattle area. Showers, private dressing rooms and lockers are provided. Classes are taught by a certified aquatic therapist or other qualified instructor depending on the class. Individual instruction and Watsu appointments are also available. Our class schedule includes:
